The authors report the results on the biochemical study of cerebral mucopolysaccharides and glycoproteins in a case of metachromatic leukodystrophy. The mucopolysaccharides don't show any significant variation from the control, with the exception of the insoluble fraction of white matter, slightly increased. The glycoproteins, on the contrary, show an increase of the soluble and a decrease of the insoluble fraction. These results allow us to speculate on the role of the soluble glycoproteins in the normal and pathologic metabolism.

Abstract
The authors report the results on the biochemical study of cerebral mucopolysaccharides and glycoproteins in a case of metachromatic leukodystrophy. The mucopolysaccharides don't show any significant variation from the control, with the exception of the insoluble fraction of white matter, slightly increased. The glycoproteins, on the contrary, show an increase of the soluble and a decrease of the insoluble fraction. These results allow us to speculate on the role of the soluble glycoproteins in the normal and pathologic metabolism.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
