Analysing romance production, this article aims to a better understanding of migrant routes and life experiences, focusing on the stories of Italians immigrants in Switzerland. The migrant passes through different experiences, from the moment of the departure to the possible return, through the ambivalence experience of welcoming and settlement in a new society. Being in movement, the transformation becomes the light motive of this experience. For this reason, the idea of return is even changing, and it becomes an impossible process. This awareness brings to the development of unusual routes and unexpected directions.

Abstract

Analysing romance production, this article aims to a better understanding of migrant routes and life experiences, focusing on the stories of Italians immigrants in Switzerland. The migrant passes through different experiences, from the moment of the departure to the possible return, through the ambivalence experience of welcoming and settlement in a new society. Being in movement, the transformation becomes the light motive of this experience. For this reason, the idea of return is even changing, and it becomes an impossible process. This awareness brings to the development of unusual routes and unexpected directions.
