Accurate echocardiographic evaluation is mandatory in patients with evidence of intra-atrial masses to rule out the presence of image artifacts. In most cases, artifacts mimicking atrial masses are detected within the right atrium. We report a rare case of left atrial (LA) pseudomass due to LA wall collapse in a patient with cardiac tamponade for severe pericardial effusion of unknown origin.

Abstract
Accurate echocardiographic evaluation is mandatory in patients with evidence of intra-atrial masses to rule out the presence of image artifacts. In most cases, artifacts mimicking atrial masses are detected within the right atrium. We report a rare case of left atrial (LA) pseudomass due to LA wall collapse in a patient with cardiac tamponade for severe pericardial effusion of unknown origin.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
