A new survey on the manuscript tradition of the rhymes of the Florentine poet Matteo Frescobaldi (129j-1348) leads to a reconsideration of the textual choices of the latest editors. The article proposes new solutions for many issues, concern- ing primarily the attribution of several poems of this relatively large lyric corpus. Moreover, the analysis leads to reassess the importance of the textual sequence offered by ms 11.11.40 of the Florence National Library, which preserves an unbroken series of 10 ballads that develop a broadly coherent story marked by textual connections that seem to confirm that the sequence has been arranged by the author himself.

Abstract
A new survey on the manuscript tradition of the rhymes of the Florentine poet Matteo Frescobaldi (129j-1348) leads to a reconsideration of the textual choices of the latest editors. The article proposes new solutions for many issues, concern- ing primarily the attribution of several poems of this relatively large lyric corpus. Moreover, the analysis leads to reassess the importance of the textual sequence offered by ms 11.11.40 of the Florence National Library, which preserves an unbroken series of 10 ballads that develop a broadly coherent story marked by textual connections that seem to confirm that the sequence has been arranged by the author himself.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
