The Middle Palaeolithic evidence from the Upper and Middle Tiber basin is concerned. MP sites from this region can be divided into three different geographic groups: the Tuscan Upper Tiber Valley sites, the Gubbio basin sites, and the other sites from the Umbria territory. The paper involves topics like raw material procurement, lithic artefact technology and typology, site geographic distribution, geo-morphologic and micro-stratigraphic investigations. A model for Neandertal population dispersal in Central Italy during MIS 5 and early MIS 4 is proposed.
