«La Tribuna» was a weekly newspaper of the Pli. Created in 1956, it was a project of Giovanni Malagodi. The paper was first edited by Pier Augusto Macchi and from 1960 by Ferruccio Disnan. «La Tribuna» was the principal voice of the “alternativa liberale” and the means of expression of the moderate opposition to “centrosinistra” governments. Intense political debate on relevant crucial issues as well as foreign political affairs took place in its pages, particularly with regard to the reconstruction process in Europe. Though not as popular as «Il Mondo», «La Tribuna» was a centre of intellectual aggregation which, during the 50s and the 60s, greatly contributed to keeping alive the culture of Italian liberalism.

Il saggio ricostruisce la nascita e i primi anni di vita della rivista «La Tribuna», organizzata nel 1956 da Giovanni Malagodi. Su di essa si svolge un intenso dibattito politico e culturale che fa da sfondo alla opposizione alla formula del centro-sinistra.
