The authors examine the pathogenetic mechanisms leading to herniated disk disease and lumbar pain in basketball players by analyzing the role of particular movements typical of this sport. They present the results of a 5-year study of the incidence of herniated disk disease and lumbar pain in basketball players based on the screening of professional teams from the Tuscany Region of Italy.
