Abstract
During the so-called Third Sacred War, in the midst of 4. cent. BC, the Phocians largely used the wealth of sanctuary of Pythian Apollo in Delphi for recruiting mercenaries. In the following fifteen years, these men were punished as sacrilegious temple-robbers. Apollo's revenge - cited also by Christian writers as Eusebius - however seems much more accurate and "surgical" than the punishment of the inhabitants of Messina in 1908 for the blasphemous faults of few people in the words of some present-day exegetes.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
