Scapular fractures are relatively rare, constituting 1% of all fractures and 5% of fractures involving the shoulder. Acromial fractures are usually combined with other lesions of the shoulder girdle. Isolated fractures of the acromion are clearly the exception to the rule and have been published only in case reports. We report a case of a traumatic isolated displaced anterior fracture of the acromion. Open reduction and internal fixation by tension band wiring, as proposed by Goss et al. was performed. The clinical result at 1 year was excellent, and the patient returned to his recreational activities.

Abstract
Scapular fractures are relatively rare, constituting 1% of all fractures and 5% of fractures involving the shoulder. Acromial fractures are usually combined with other lesions of the shoulder girdle. Isolated fractures of the acromion are clearly the exception to the rule and have been published only in case reports. We report a case of a traumatic isolated displaced anterior fracture of the acromion. Open reduction and internal fixation by tension band wiring, as proposed by Goss et al. was performed. The clinical result at 1 year was excellent, and the patient returned to his recreational activities.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
