The (Na+-K+) induced ATPase enzymatic system was studied with respect to the cation transport against an electronic gradient which contributes to the acoustic stimulus perception. It may be concluded, on the basis of the experimental results, that the two cochlear potentials, that is the microphonic and the resting potentials of the endolymph, seem to depend upon the activation of this (Na+-K+) dependent ATPase pump system.

Abstract

The (Na+-K+) induced ATPase enzymatic system was studied with respect to the cation transport against an electronic gradient which contributes to the acoustic stimulus perception. It may be concluded, on the basis of the experimental results, that the two cochlear potentials, that is the microphonic and the resting potentials of the endolymph, seem to depend upon the activation of this (Na+-K+) dependent ATPase pump system.
