L'ernia inguinale del neonato prematuro: due casistiche a confronto

INGUINAL HERNIA IN PREMATURE BABIES: COMPARISON BETWEEN TWO SERIES. The congenital inguinal hernia is the most frequent malformation in paediatric age. The incidence grows in premature infants, because the peritoneal-vaginal duct remains patent, and the physiological hepato-splenomegaly produces a rise in abdominal pressure, promoting the protution of bowels. The authors analyse the differences between two centres of paediatric surgery, and they affirm, that the best management of premature infants with symptomatic inguinal hernia is a careful follow-up and an operation before the discharge from Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
