Washing of pharmaceutical glass vials: Dimensional problems [Lavaggio di flaconi in vetro per uso farmaceutico : problematiche dimensionali]

The AA. investigate the dimensional parameters of pharmaceutical glass vials, with special attention to the profile of the so-called neck. A simple method to calculate the internal surface of vials is proposed. According to a series of experimental data, an estimation of the retention of the washing water with respect to the internal surface and the neck profile is obtained. The knowledge of the water retention is a useful tool to verify the performance of a vial-washing machine and to keep in check some troubles related with the presence of residual water inside the glass vials.
