Dental staff is more at risk in getting Hepatitis B if compared with the open population. The risk of getting Hepatitis C is questionable. In order to better understand the issue, we have conducted a study among the dentists in the Province of Siena. Dentists and research staff were recruited by letter and a total of 39 subjects (28 dentists and 11 auxiliaries) agreed to take part in the study; this meant drawing up a questionnaire and taking blood samples in order to get information on the HBV and HCV markers.
