During fauna research in the framework of recent Tuscan conservation and management projects (Bioitaly Toscana, Tuscan Natural Repertoire, Natural Reserve management plans, LIFE-Nature projects, Leader projects, etc.), new data was obtained on the distribution of certain rare or little known diurnal lepidoptera (Heteropterus morpheus, Zerinthia polyxena, Argynnis pandora , Brenthis hecate , Charaxes jasius, Apatura ilia , Hipparchia aristeus , Hipparchia neomiris, Polyommatus hispanus, Cacyreus marshalli, Maculinea arion, Chazara briseis , Melanargia arge and Coenonympha elbana). Some are the first report (Argynnis pandora) or the southern-most report ( Maculinea arion , Brenthis hecate, Apatura ilia and Chazara briseis) in mainland Tuscany.
