A new fieldwork carried out in the Monti Livornesi (Sassetta area) allowed us to recognise a thrust that doubled the Tuscan Nappe succession. Thrusting was related to the latest evolution of the Northern Apennines collisional event (Late Oligocene-Early Miocene) and caused the superimposition of the Calcare Massiccio Fm on the Scaglia Toscana Fm. The thrust plane is partially exposed in an abandoned quarry. It consists of a shear zone about 5-7m thick gently dipping toward NW.

Abstract
A new fieldwork carried out in the Monti Livornesi (Sassetta area) allowed us to recognise a thrust that doubled the Tuscan Nappe succession. Thrusting was related to the latest evolution of the Northern Apennines collisional event (Late Oligocene-Early Miocene) and caused the superimposition of the Calcare Massiccio Fm on the Scaglia Toscana Fm. The thrust plane is partially exposed in an abandoned quarry. It consists of a shear zone about 5-7m thick gently dipping toward NW.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
