A construction is given which, for any zonoid Z⊂R d and any unit vectors u 1,..., u k, produces a zonotope Z′ which is a sum of at most k segments and has the same support values as Z in the directions u 1, ..., u k . Applications to an estimation problem for fiber processes are also given as well as some related results for convex bodies. © 1994 Springer-Verlag New York Inc.
