In recent times, the European Union, in the exercise of its external action, has increased the unilateral application of its legislation beyond its territorial borders. This unilateral application is achieved through three different methods, the extraterritorial application in a strict sense, the territorial extension of its legislation and the so-called Brussels effect. The present contribution, after having analyzed these application methods, presents an analysis of the CBAM mechanism as an expression of the external action of the Union, between the Brussels effect and the territorial extension.

Abstract
In recent times, the European Union, in the exercise of its external action, has increased the unilateral application of its legislation beyond its territorial borders. This unilateral application is achieved through three different methods, the extraterritorial application in a strict sense, the territorial extension of its legislation and the so-called Brussels effect. The present contribution, after having analyzed these application methods, presents an analysis of the CBAM mechanism as an expression of the external action of the Union, between the Brussels effect and the territorial extension.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
