Integrating low-cost everyday digital tools in collaborative urban planning: insights from Pionta Park

This paper explores the evolving landscape of master planning, with a focus on how everyday digital tools shape participatory practices throughout the entire master planning cycle. It highlights how platforms such as Google Drive, Facebook, and WhatsApp foster informal, citizen-driven spaces for engagement, reshaping interactions between communities and government bodies, and examines how their use may vary across different phases of the master planning process and under different contextual conditions. Drawing on the case of Pionta Park in Arezzo, Italy, the study illustrates how these digital tools influence both institutional and non-digital planning processes, offering transferable insights for participatory urban governance in similar contexts.
