The essay focuses on the historical experience of home-based work in relation to care work within the family. In industrial society, home-based work is characterized by a strong female presence. In labor law, it is classified as a special form of dependent work. Protections have been established based on this classification. From a sociological perspective, working from home has been a part of women’s history in terms of reconciling work and family life. With the current rise of remote working, it is important to re-examine the dynamics underlying the spread of home-based work from the perspective of achieving effective gender equality.
