Text and Body: the Transactional Space in the Work of Carlota O’Neill. We propose to study the prison writings of Carlota O’Neill (Madrid, 1905-Caracas, 2000), using the theoretical tools of studies on transnational and ectopic space and emotions. The literary production of this author reflects a deep concern for the condition of women, capturing emotions such as fear, sadness and hopelessness, as well as hope. Her personal experience transforms her perspective: from being a voice that denounces the injustices suffered by women in society, she becomes a victim. And yet, O’Neill’s work not only acts as a testimony of her suffering, but also represents a fight for republican ideals and women’s rights, becoming a legacy of collective memory.

Abstract
Text and Body: the Transactional Space in the Work of Carlota O’Neill. We propose to study the prison writings of Carlota O’Neill (Madrid, 1905-Caracas, 2000), using the theoretical tools of studies on transnational and ectopic space and emotions. The literary production of this author reflects a deep concern for the condition of women, capturing emotions such as fear, sadness and hopelessness, as well as hope. Her personal experience transforms her perspective: from being a voice that denounces the injustices suffered by women in society, she becomes a victim. And yet, O’Neill’s work not only acts as a testimony of her suffering, but also represents a fight for republican ideals and women’s rights, becoming a legacy of collective memory.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
