«Qualche spostamento di montaggio». Gli interventi di Italo Calvino sul dattiloscritto del Barone rampante

This article investigates the structural, narrative and stylistic strategies adopted by Italo Calvino on the text of The Baron in the Trees through the analysis of the original typescript of the novel, preserved at the Einaudi Archive. The study of the author's interventions allowed a better understanding of at least three main aspects: how and why Calvino modified the structure of the novel just few weeks before its publication; his systematic intervention on the narrative perspective and on the main characters; his attention to lexical precision, testified by the variants, which reflects the poetics of 'Exactitude' as described in Six Memos for the Next Millennium. © 2023 Fabrizio Serra Editore.
