In light of the multifaceted relationship between doctores legum and statutum (composition or revision of the text, use of it through consultancy and the activity of iudex assessor, or during teaching), this essay contends that the categorization of ius proprium civitatis in the theory of the sources of law dates back to the origins of the legal school (Irnerius).
Il complesso rapporto tra lo statuto comunale e il doctor legum – che partecipa alla composizione o revisione del testo e lo utilizza attraverso la consulenza, nel corso di incarichi istituzionali o in sede didattica – è riconducibile alle origini della scuola giuridica (con Irnerio), sotto il profilo della validazione della normativa locale nel sistema delle fonti del diritto, mediante la configurazione della categoria del ius proprium civitatis.
