"Un luogo visto in sogno". Il restauro, un libro recente e alcune notazioni sul reliquiario di San Galgano, detto di Frosini

Starting from the restoration after its recovery following theft and from the presentation of a recent book, the article proposes a re-examina- tion of the chronology and context in which the reliquary of Saint Galgano, formerly in the par- ish church of Frosini, came into being and, on the basis of an examination of its unique enam- elled iconographic cycle, explores the possibility that this precious artefact was intended for the church of San Galgano on Monte Siepi, erected on the site – and as a symbol – of the saint’s conversion

A partire dal restauro seguito al recupero dopo il furto e dalla discussione di un recente volume, il contributo propone un riesame della cronologia e del contesto in cui prese vita il reliquiario di San Galgano già nella parrocchiale di Frosini e, in base all’esame del singolare ciclo iconografico a smalto, esplora la possibilità che il prezioso manufatto fosse destinato alla chiesa di San Galgano sul Monte Siepi, eretta nel luogo – e quale simbolo – della conversione del santo.
