Studenti sinofoni a Prato. Un'analisi delle competenze linguistico-comunicative in italiano della popolazione studentesca

Sinophonic students in Prato. An analysis of the linguistic-communicative competences in Italian of the student population. ABSTRACT: After a picture on the main characteristics of Chinese migrations in Prato, the article proposes a reflection on the linguistic and linguistic-communicative problems of the young generations of Chinese origin through the analysis of the results of two surveys carried out between 2018 and 2021 by the Municipality of Prato. Our thesis is that the existing gap between the sinophone student population and those with other migratory background is not to be found only in the typological distance between the linguistic varieties of Chinese spoken and Italian, but also, if not above all, in the characteristics of migration and in the methods of settlement in the territory of arrival, which do not allow them to come into contact with input in Italian of such quality and quantity as to activate optimal linguistic acquisition processes in both languages.

Dopo avere ricostruito le principali caratteristiche delle migrazioni cinesi a Prato, l’articolo propone una riflessione sulle difficoltà linguistiche e linguistico-comunicative delle giovani generazioni di origine cinese attraverso l’analisi dei risultati di due rilevazioni effettuate tra il 2018 e il 2021 dal Comune di Prato. La tesi proposta è che il gap esistente tra popolazione studentesca sinofona e quella con altri background migratori non sia da rintracciare solamente nella distanza tipologica tra le varietà linguistiche di cinese parlate e l’italiano, ma anche, se non soprattutto, nelle caratteristiche della migrazione e nelle modalità di stanziamento sul territorio di arrivo, che non permettono di entrare in contatto con input in italiano di qualità e quantità tali da attivare processi di acquisizione linguistica ottimali in entrambe le lingue.
