One of the enigmatic expressions of Celestina that has not yet been satisfactorily explained is the reference to "Minerva con el can" from Act I. Scholars have proposed different explanations but no one of them has been widely accepted. In this article we propose that the source of the quotation is II Novellino by Masuccio Salernitano.

Abstract

One of the enigmatic expressions of Celestina that has not yet been satisfactorily explained is the reference to "Minerva con el can" from Act I. Scholars have proposed different explanations but no one of them has been widely accepted. In this article we propose that the source of the quotation is II Novellino by Masuccio Salernitano.
