Ultrasounds are more and more common in everyday life, sometimes in subtle forms. their effects have been described and some precaution is recommended. We report the case of a 48-year-old man who suffered a long-lasting painful tinnitus for several weeks. Most causes for this disease were ruled out, and the most likely was the night exposure to continuous ultrasounds (US) emitted by an antimosquito web application installed in his smartphone. We describe the US specter emitted by the smartphone and discuss the risks of this kind of US according with the current guidelines for US-linked diseases prevention.

Abstract
Ultrasounds are more and more common in everyday life, sometimes in subtle forms. their effects have been described and some precaution is recommended. We report the case of a 48-year-old man who suffered a long-lasting painful tinnitus for several weeks. Most causes for this disease were ruled out, and the most likely was the night exposure to continuous ultrasounds (US) emitted by an antimosquito web application installed in his smartphone. We describe the US specter emitted by the smartphone and discuss the risks of this kind of US according with the current guidelines for US-linked diseases prevention.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
