Il Bene/Sole nell'esegesi neoplatonica: Giamblico, Giuliano e l'inno A Helios re

In this paper, I will discuss Iamblichus’ interpretation of the solar analogy in Book VI of Plato's Republic (Plat. Resp. VI 508a-509d) through a reexamination of the julianic Hymn to King Helios (132b-c). There is, in my opinion, the possibility that in Iamblichus’ metaphysical system the image of the Good/Sun was related not to the First Principle, the Ineffable, but to a Second Principle, the One-Existent, presented as a necessary link between the realm of the One and the realm of the Nous. So interpreted, the exegesis of Resp. VI 508a ss. given by Iamblichus/Julian differs from those proposed by Plotinus and Proclus in providing a less radical vision of the transcendence of the Good/Sun; but, on the other hand, it is quite close to Damascius’ interpretation exposed in his work De principiis.

Il contributo ricostruisce l’interpretazione giamblichea dell’analogia solare presente nel VI libro della Repubblica platonica (Plat. Resp. VI 508a-509d) prendendo in esame un passo dell’inno A Helios re di Giuliano Imperatore (132b-c). Si esamina la possibilità che nel sistema metafisico di Giamblico l’immagine del Bene/Sole fosse riferita non al Primo Principio Assoluto, l’Ineffabile, ma ad un Secondo Principio, l’Uno-che-è, presentato come termine di passaggio fra la sfera dell’Uno e quella del Nous. L’esegesi giamblicheo/giulianea, così interpretata, si differenzia da quelle proposte da Plotino e da Proclo nel fornire una visione meno radicale della trascendenza del Bene/Sole e, per contro, risulta piuttosto vicina all’interpretazione fornita da Damascio nel De principiis.
