Le «Jehan d’Avennes» d’Anna Maria Finoli. Pratique critique et intuition stylistique

The critical edition of Jehan d’Avennes, an anonymous prose novel (mid-15th Cent.), required to choose between two versions without philological evidences of the original author’s text. While the ms. BnF Fr. 12572 presents more stylistic and narrative developments, A.-M. Finoli has intuitively opted for the more concise version of the ms. Arsenal 5208 Rés. Thanks to later studies on the editorial techniques of the scriptorium of Jean de Wavrin, from which the ms. fr. 12572 comes out, the editor’s choice proved to be the most apt to give the most original version of the text. © 2024, Rosenberg and Sellier.
