Rigenerazione urbana e ricettività nei centri storici: tre progetti immobiliari e mobilitazioni cittadine a Venezia

Urban regeneration scholars and experts’ attention has long shifted from the role of public administrations to the dimension of local communities. As the private sector becomes more and more active in this field, the public value and functions associated with the projects it furthers face significant activism. The issue is particularly critical in cities like Venice, characterized by intense tourist flows and negative demographic trends and where many real estate projects tend to redefine the relationships between residential and hospitality functions. Our contribution thus intends to explore three urban regeneration projects furthered by private developers with the local administration’s approval, in relation to the citizen initiatives which followed.
