Inter-organizational management control in Health and Social Care: an exploratory analysis of Healthcare Consortia in Tucany

With the aim of promoting integration between health and social care, Tuscany has introduced the organizational model of Società della Salute (SdS - Healthcare Consortia). The model is based on the involvement of all public and private actors operating in the health, social and environmental sectors, beginning with the phase of strategic planning by the SdS and followed by the drafting of a Piano Integrato di Salute (PIS - Integrated Health and Social Care Plan). In this scenario, this contribution examines the role of management control systems in the development of inter-organizational relationships. To this end, an analysis is performed of the perception of the PIS as a management control instrument capable of supporting relationships between actors in the SdS integrated care networks.
