This literature review analyses the recent international studies on Fascist military institutions. It discusses the peculiarities of international scholarship comparing it to Italian studies, specifically focusing on crucial subjects: the relationship between foreign policy and war, a definition of the grand strategy of Mussolini’s regime, and a reappraisal of the Italian military effectiveness.
