This special issue focuses on some of the main debates in recent kinship studies. The transition from kinship to relatedness is closely linked to the anthropological study of gender, the body, reproduction and care, medical knowledge, migration, religion, politics, ethics, and aesthetics. In the introduction, we discuss the specific aspects of these debates that the authors of the articles address: the relationship between demographic and kinship transitions; alternative forms of kinship and relatedness – such as adoption, matrifocality, queer kinship or kin making among people living in the same house –; stratified reproduction and relatedness; ways of seeing, representing, and imagining kin ties; the intertwining of kinship and religion; and the future of kinship.

Abstract
This special issue focuses on some of the main debates in recent kinship studies. The transition from kinship to relatedness is closely linked to the anthropological study of gender, the body, reproduction and care, medical knowledge, migration, religion, politics, ethics, and aesthetics. In the introduction, we discuss the specific aspects of these debates that the authors of the articles address: the relationship between demographic and kinship transitions; alternative forms of kinship and relatedness – such as adoption, matrifocality, queer kinship or kin making among people living in the same house –; stratified reproduction and relatedness; ways of seeing, representing, and imagining kin ties; the intertwining of kinship and religion; and the future of kinship.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
