This article highlights the relationship between autobiography and music in Nietzsche’s thought. Nietzsche was born into a pietistic environment, where both autobiography and music were prominent. He unifies these two cultural expressions into a single moment: his musical compositions. These pieces of music were not written for aesthetic reasons, but as an intimate diary. For this reason, his musical pieces are interpreted not as a playful activity, but as a place that unifies corporeality, care and self-growth. Thus, a new image of the philosophy of care emerges where the Platonic sense of epimeleia becomes a real ontological maturation of the human being.

Abstract
This article highlights the relationship between autobiography and music in Nietzsche’s thought. Nietzsche was born into a pietistic environment, where both autobiography and music were prominent. He unifies these two cultural expressions into a single moment: his musical compositions. These pieces of music were not written for aesthetic reasons, but as an intimate diary. For this reason, his musical pieces are interpreted not as a playful activity, but as a place that unifies corporeality, care and self-growth. Thus, a new image of the philosophy of care emerges where the Platonic sense of epimeleia becomes a real ontological maturation of the human being.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
