El III Concilio Provincial mexicano y la legitimidad del dominio de la corona: entre Principios de autoridad e instrumentos de dislocacion del poder

The third Mexican Provincial Council (1585), convened as a result of the Council of Trent, must be read as the confirmation of the principles and values that will settle and define the social structure by means of the legal-political determination of the New Spain viceroyalty. The leading axis of the study is the principle of legitimate domain of territory, and the mechanisms and strategies yielded for the exercise of authority. The Synod shows, through the proposed debate within the Council of Trento, its will for being a higher authority with respect to the rest of the territory.
