The paper aims to analyze the military experiences of Kleon, the athenian leader in the Archidamian War, at Sphakteria and, particularly, at Amphipolis, where he was killed. Thucydides despises him, and surely Kleon became a general very late, at 45 years; at Amphipolis he made some mistakes, although it’s not easy to reconstruct the facts.
