The article offers an initial estimate of the real estate and assets of the Grand Duke of Tuscany Ferdinand II de' Medici. The data which emerge from the docu ments examined point to an extreme shortage of cash, especially if these years of international crisis are compared with the preceding period: one of the solutions chosen was the sale of a considerable portion of real estate, sector in which the Grand Duke's predecessors, fortunately, had invested extensively.
