Queer kinships are a formidable highlight of the complex and contradictory transformations kinship has undergone in contemporary societies. Starting from the canonical anthropological studies on elective families of gay and lesbian since the early 1990s, the article follows the progressive consolidation of scientific interest in queer kinships and in particular it focuses on the development of the procreative paths of some LGBTQI+ people thanks to reproductive medicine. Paying attention to their uses of medical technologies, we try to consider how queer relationality impacts on the traditional Euro-American model of kinship (challenging the model of heterosexual relationships and gender binarism) and how much it contributes to reconfiguring the field of kinship and reproduction.

Abstract
Queer kinships are a formidable highlight of the complex and contradictory transformations kinship has undergone in contemporary societies. Starting from the canonical anthropological studies on elective families of gay and lesbian since the early 1990s, the article follows the progressive consolidation of scientific interest in queer kinships and in particular it focuses on the development of the procreative paths of some LGBTQI+ people thanks to reproductive medicine. Paying attention to their uses of medical technologies, we try to consider how queer relationality impacts on the traditional Euro-American model of kinship (challenging the model of heterosexual relationships and gender binarism) and how much it contributes to reconfiguring the field of kinship and reproduction.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
