The collected works on government of the princes and nobility published by Antoine Vérard (1497) include a humanist text translated by Jean Miélot, previously published by Colard Mansion in Bruges (1476 ca.). While Vérard ignores Mansion's edition and conceives his volume in a French perspective, the structure of his edition nevertheless makes it possible to uncover the common Burgundian origin of three texts contained in the collection, and their philological value for the tradition of the texts.

Abstract

The collected works on government of the princes and nobility published by Antoine Vérard (1497) include a humanist text translated by Jean Miélot, previously published by Colard Mansion in Bruges (1476 ca.). While Vérard ignores Mansion's edition and conceives his volume in a French perspective, the structure of his edition nevertheless makes it possible to uncover the common Burgundian origin of three texts contained in the collection, and their philological value for the tradition of the texts.
