The earliest complete French translation of the Bible – the so-called Bible du XIIIe siècle – remains almost entirely unpublished. This essay offers a study of the Book of Ruth: it analyses its textual transmission among the extant manuscripts and provides a scholarly edition of the French version and its glosses, as well as a commentary of some significant translations and variant readings.
