This paper aims to compare two apparently distant and different regions (the Serre of Vibo Valentia in Calabria and Mount Amiata in Tuscany). However, they have more in common than expected. First of all, the presumed marginality in the making and development of the modern landscapes and, consequently, of the connectivity network. The dissolution of the Medieval structures was not a linear process in either region and it was also a long lasting one. However, it seems to have had no impact on the main communication routes. On the other hand, the development of some clustered, open villages seems to be contemporary to an increase in the number of isolated farmsteads, at least in Calabria. In this paper we present some preliminary results of new research as well as general overviews. © 2021, All'Insegna del Giglio s.a.s.. All rights reserved.

Abstract
All rights reserved.| File | Dimensione | Formato | |
