Levigata pagina. Riconsiderando l’epitaffio di Sidonio per il nonno Apollinare (ep. 3, 12)

Going back on the translation of Sidonius Apollinaris’ poem (carm. 28) for his grandfather inserted in ep. 3,12, this contribution reconsiders its controversial incipit and gives a new interpretation. In the light of the two purposes, epigraphic and literary, of this carmen insertum (as suggested by the poetism levigata pagina), the paper also formulates a new hypothesis about the reason of its collocation within Sidonius’ letters.
