Georgios Kondis, a copyist and writer active at the beginning of the seventeenth century and connected with the patriarch of Constantinople Cyril Lucaris, paraphrased in verse and prose some jokes of the Philogelos (65, 112, 114, 115, 166, 211, 235, 245, 255 ), drawing from an unidentifiable manuscript probably akin to recension a, of which, however, in some places it provided a better and more complete text. The paraphrase of joke 114, in particular, allows to restore its ending, lost in lacuna (perhaps because considered too risque) in the only known manuscript that transmits the funny story.

Abstract
Georgios Kondis, a copyist and writer active at the beginning of the seventeenth century and connected with the patriarch of Constantinople Cyril Lucaris, paraphrased in verse and prose some jokes of the Philogelos (65, 112, 114, 115, 166, 211, 235, 245, 255 ), drawing from an unidentifiable manuscript probably akin to recension a, of which, however, in some places it provided a better and more complete text. The paraphrase of joke 114, in particular, allows to restore its ending, lost in lacuna (perhaps because considered too risque) in the only known manuscript that transmits the funny story.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
