This paper proposes the verification of some frescobaldian passages traditionally identified by critics as antecedents of Petrarchian verses – in particular, I selected Rvf 23, 15 and 292. The purpose of this work is twofold: in general, to understand to what extent one can talk about allusion when the reproduced poet is a centonista and the reproducer is a dissimulator; in particular, to assign some value to the frescobaldian presence in the Rvf.

Abstract

This paper proposes the verification of some frescobaldian passages traditionally identified by critics as antecedents of Petrarchian verses – in particular, I selected Rvf 23, 15 and 292. The purpose of this work is twofold: in general, to understand to what extent one can talk about allusion when the reproduced poet is a centonista and the reproducer is a dissimulator; in particular, to assign some value to the frescobaldian presence in the Rvf.
