The essay emphasizes the close connection between multiculturalism and constitutionalism (pointing out that they “aut simul stabunt aut simul cadent”). Actually, the “multiculturalism” is an essential element of constitutionalism, as expression of the “pluralism” that is at the basis for the constitutional democracy. For this reason, the recent challenges to the constitutional democracy (the so called “constitutional retrogression”) are frequently translated into an attack to the multiculturalism. The essay focuses on the causes of this phenomenon, highlighting the role played by the digital revolution, which tends to produce fragmentation and polarization. In the end, some possible strategies of reaction are drawn up, in order to try to guarantee the human dignity and the peace, even in the new context. In this attempt, the law has a role to play, not only as a repressive tool, but mostly as a promotional one, aimed at producing a cosmopolitan education and proximity policies directed at enhancing the empathy and the culture of dialogue.

Abstract
In this attempt, the law has a role to play, not only as a repressive tool, but mostly as a promotional one, aimed at producing a cosmopolitan education and proximity policies directed at enhancing the empathy and the culture of dialogue.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
