The lithic industry discovered in the different levels of Grotta del Lago (Triponzo) is described herewith. The cave, which has produced pottery mainly from the Ripoli and Diana Cultures, was used during the Neolithic period as a burial site. Three radiometric dates place the site in the second half of the 5th millennium cal. BC. The unfortunately scarce lithic industry is mainly characterized by a prevailing number of flakes on the blades and by flat rather than carinated artefacts. Regarding the typology, a considerable incidence of flat-retouched tools, having a good variety of primary types, besides dominating the Substratum is noticed. The comparison of this complex to others which can be referred to the same period, highlights the evidence within the recent Neolithic in Central Italy of compound litho-technical aspects in which allocthonous influences of different extraction blend in with local traditions.

Abstract
The comparison of this complex to others which can be referred to the same period, highlights the evidence within the recent Neolithic in Central Italy of compound litho-technical aspects in which allocthonous influences of different extraction blend in with local traditions.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
