Purpose: We investigate the ability of WAIS-R and neuropsychological testing to determine the side of seizure onset in patients with drug resistant TLE candidates to surgery. Subjects and Methods: We evaluated 50 patients, suffering from TLE, undergoing presurgical evaluation, in which the site of seizure onset was clearly identified. Each patient underwent a full neuropsychological assessment including specific abilities tests and WAIS-R. Results: Binary logistic regression shown a predictive value of epileptogenic zone side for Corsi Supraspan test and WAIS-R QIP-QIV discrepancy score. Receiver Operating Curve confirm the statistically significative lateralization value of these index. Conclusion: the Corsi visuo-spatial sequence learning test (Supraspan) and the WAIS-R shown a consistent level of accuracy in contributing to the determination of the epileptogenic focus in TLE subjects candidates to surgical therapy.
