The authors describe the contents of a pit (pottery and faunal remains) found in the Final Bronze Age settlement at the site of Kreuzwiese in Elvas. The study was in particular aimed at clarifying the function of the pit. It shows that there is no valid reason to interpret the pit fill as the result of ritual activity. The range of finds, in fact, did not differ in any significant way from that seen in layers that could be securely interpreted as having formed as a result of daily life in the settlement.
