The analysis of the hospital admissions for occupational asthma executed by the Section of Occupational Medicine of Siena from 2000 to 2005 [Analisi dei ricoveri per asma professionale della sezione di Medicina del Lavoro di Siena nel periodo 2000-2005]

The population of workers, affected by suspicious professional respiratory diseases hospitalized from 2000 to 2005 in the Section of Occupational Medicine of the University of Siena was studied. The aim of the study was to highlight possible changes of occupational asthma during the time, the workplaces and the new compounds involved in the development of this pathology. 39 cases of occupational asthma and/or rhinitis were found: 10 cases of asthma, 25 cases of rhinitis and 4 cases of rhinitis associated to asthma.
