An electromagnetic Material-by-Design approach is proposed for the synthesis of thin metasurfaces able to polarize the incoming wave according to the user-defined criteria. The approach relies on the integration of an optimization block based on an evolutionary optimization technique with a fast analysis block for the simulation of the metasurface. Selected numerical results are discussed to assess the effectiveness and flexibility of the Material-by-Design approach.

Abstract
An electromagnetic Material-by-Design approach is proposed for the synthesis of thin metasurfaces able to polarize the incoming wave according to the user-defined criteria. The approach relies on the integration of an optimization block based on an evolutionary optimization technique with a fast analysis block for the simulation of the metasurface. Selected numerical results are discussed to assess the effectiveness and flexibility of the Material-by-Design approach.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
