Aim of this paper is to illustrate the utilize of the digital photogrammetry technique in order to reconstruct the depositional dynamics of the two contemporary acheulean (0,9-0,7 m/y BP) sites of Gombore II OAM and Simbiro III in the archaeological area of Melka Kunture (Ethiopia). Through stereographic projection a statistical analysis about the attitude of all the unmodified pebbles has been executed, and it permitted to identify, by density analyses, the presence of preferential depositional direction, that is in agreement with the previous geological reconstruction of the area. These analyses, integrated with a remote sensing study of the whole area, contribute to the archaeological and palaeoenvironmental recontruclion, necessary to better understand the evolution and the use of the landscape.

Abstract
Aim of this paper is to illustrate the utilize of the digital photogrammetry technique in order to reconstruct the depositional dynamics of the two contemporary acheulean (0,9-0,7 m/y BP) sites of Gombore II OAM and Simbiro III in the archaeological area of Melka Kunture (Ethiopia). Through stereographic projection a statistical analysis about the attitude of all the unmodified pebbles has been executed, and it permitted to identify, by density analyses, the presence of preferential depositional direction, that is in agreement with the previous geological reconstruction of the area. These analyses, integrated with a remote sensing study of the whole area, contribute to the archaeological and palaeoenvironmental recontruclion, necessary to better understand the evolution and the use of the landscape.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
